Kate Howe passed away September 29, 1914, at Cherokee, Iowa. She was born in Ohio in 1834 to George and Prisilla Lieurance. She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, IA.

At the age of 20, she married David J. Howe and for 40 years was an active assistant to her husband in the Christian work. He was pastor of various Churches of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa, Illinois, Dakota and Nebraska.

Five children were born to this union, two of whom died in childhood. Those living are Mrs. Lucy Miller of Eckert; Col.,Milo Beecher Howe of Lake City, IA.; and Mrs. A.C. Smith of Cherokee, Iowa. There are eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Howe was one of a family of fifteen, a sister of Elijah Lieurance of Liberty Township.

She was a devout Christian woman, active in all good works, and will be remembered for her love of quietness and peace. She was the Great Grandmother of Annette Blake.
